Building PC, stipulation aid troubleshooting.?

I'm building a PC for the first time. So far adjectives I have done is install the motherboard, CPU, and RAM. When I tried to boot to examination if it was working, the lights turned on and the fan spun for a split second, and then they adjectives turned off. Every time I push the power button like peas in a pod thing happen. Like I said, I'm a novice, so I own no idea what the problem is. Any design?

Also, as a sidenote, I bought two 2Gb RAM sticks without realize that my motherboard's slots accept a maximum of 1GB of RAM respectively. Can I still use these RAM sticks or will I have to capture 1GB sticks? Thanks.

Answer:
Hi,Well I already been 5 years building computers and tolerate you know something this is going to be a big answer,When you build a pc you own to be really carefull, when something like that happen could be 4 things,#1Memory ram,#2 not easy drive,#3 prossesor,#4 wire connected from bag to motherboard,Ok before you do anything else,Always unplug power cord from pc<<to be exact very significant when you do hardware work on pc,Then you disconnet first the memory strike and if it's the m-ram the problem, with no memory knock against plug power back ,ok turn on laptop and everythin will work but you will heard a sound the horn that means that laptop need the memory run into another m-ram but if still shot down in les than 2 second then umplug power again, connect m-ram support and disconect hard drive, later with no intricate drive plug power back on workstation,Turn on and check if states on,If not ,then you know is not the H D any, power off and unplug again, connect complicated drive and disconnet prossesor, with no prossesor, power rear legs on pc ,Turn on,if keep running then you know is the prossesor but if still shot down surrounded by less than 2 second then is one of the connections fromthe valise to motherboard isnot connected at right way,One second rhing Ipreferd that you use a 1GB m-ram OK
RAM question: no it will not work, u call for to get the 1GB run into

Try booting it without the incompatible RAM. that could basically be it.

or

you damaged the motherboard, CPU, or powersuppy is not ample.

or

dead motherboard (not your defect, but it happens... you draw from a dead hardware upon transference.

last time that happen to me, i need to replace a current motherboard.
More than likely, you don't hold enough current man drawn from the PSU. Try hooking up a hard drive and see what happen.
To the ram no you cannot use them, also right in a minute I think your issue is that you shortage the power supply or its wattage isn't suffice. Or your power supply if you have one isn't turned on.
It is possible that the 2GB sitcks will work, but your computer will solitary see 1GB on each. However, since you are experiencing problems, the first entry I would do is try different memory that is designed for your board.
Well, the RAM may be your complete problem. The PSU current comment is nonsense. You don't call for extra stuff in here. One of the basic ways of building a PC is to incorporate components one at a time, starting with CPU, Videocard & RAM. Even next to no OS/HDD, you should still get at smallest a POST & probably a motherboard splash screen if you enjoy it hooked up to a monitor. Exchange the RAM sticks first, & you'll probably leap ahead in your progress honestly quickly.
First check out crucial.com concerning your ram.

Also, build sure heatsink is not at an angle. make sure your push is in tightly.
Well, the hit isn't going to work. You'll have to replace it. But the bigger problem is that it shouldn't turn fund off (even near no memory installed it should boot to POST
Did you use a good thermal bond on the CPU prior to installing the fan? Is the pullover settings for the motherboard set correctly for the CPU speed you are using?
Try turning it on with of late one stick of ram (1Gb or smaller), and no AGP cards, PCI cards, or drives plugged surrounded by. Then add one component at a time until it fail to start. That will be the problem device.
This sounds like you don't own any thermal paste on your processor. The M-board senses it instantly and shuts down. Put a incredibly small amount on your proc, and spread it thinly over entire proc fry spreader(metal part on top surface).
There are other things that could be the problem, including the RAM, although even next to mismatched RAM, some computers will POST and run for some time.
I agree with the post that say to boot up with the minimum components...CPU...bake sink.fan...RAM...video card individual. If it POSTS, then start count HD, Floppy, CDROM
