Depends on what your planing to do. For gaming you what a the Single Core. For multitasking you want the duel core. Running more than one programs at once duel core is great. Although I would eventually find another 512MB of ram if your going duel core. The more memory you hold the more programs you can run at once.
The Pentium D. It is dual core. Basically it is like have two Pentium 4 processers.
to the guy who says the d have dual core, it doesnt necesarilly have dual core, its dual core becuase it doesnt voice dual core, i would have to speak the P4 is better cuz its faster but you might wanna look at the cache of both of them you want more cache and if they have like peas in a pod i would go near the pentium 4
