Here is a apt site for info about elder Macs, including what version of OS X they can support. I enjoy a G3 Kihei (Blueberry) that is like as pictured in the connect and run OS X Tiger on it with 512mb RAM (old PC SDRAM, but works fine!)

Not sure how to enter the BIOS, but I didn't bother near the updates as otheers have suggested. I feel you only inevitability to do that for the Firewire models (which you may have).
Just get the update and run it. Also, I didn't enjoy the original the ivories and mouse, so just used a spare PC upright and logitech PC mouse and they work fine too!!!
