How do i create a shortcut on my desktop on a mac?

Answer:
Single click on the item to select it. Pull the Finder's File menu down to "Make Alias". Drag the alias to where on earth you want it.

Hope this helps.
There is no picking to create a shortcut. You have to construct a duplicate of the program, by either sideclicking the god and selection copty, after sideclicking the place where you want to place the shortcut and select join.
That's what the Dock is for. Applications on the left of the row and files and folders on the right.
