Whenever i open unshakable applications or lasting folders they suddenly close down why?

when i reinstall the operating system the problem doesnot turn out for 2 to 3 weeks, but then it occur again. Also this problen is not allowing me to use the antivirus(mackfee) as it close it down at the instant i start it.

my pc configuration:-
AMD athelon(tm) xp2000+1.67Ghz, 224mb of hit, 80 Gb harddisk, windows xp service pack 2

does you pchave an existing antivirus past you install mc afee? if it does then variety sure you uninstall it properly and traces should be left. if you cannot remove them completely later use system restore. clean format your computer would be your end resort.. :)
