I don't reckon my D drive is working, can you relief me trouble shoot this problem? I am using an elder computer

My sis give me an old dell as a second computer. I tried to install my network cam on it and I can't. When the wizard comes up it can't find the drivers so asks me where I want to look. The box subsequent to and the line of d/disk drive is gray and I can't use it. Also, if I put the disk contained by nothing happen, I also just tried a regular and cd, and nil...There is not d drive option contained by my computer either. I tried to find it on the computer and am have no luck. Does anyone know what this could be, or what I can do to fix this? By the way, I am sure the drive itself is funtional it is merely not installed (or whatever) correctly.

Thanks,
Kari D.

Answer:
ok..i had an elder h-p computer that had a D drive but it be just a wall for the recovery system and be not accessible for what you are trying.can you select perhaps the C drive? i.e. generally the crucial hard drive within any computer.i think most dell come with separate disks for the OS and at hand should be one for the drivers.of course they will be old but should get you started.you should be capable of update them online.hope this helps and flawless luck
You must write OS you are using & hardware setail while asking question.
Check if the cable are connected properly
