Thinking nearly getting a mac...?
Answer:
Well first I'll say I have never used a Mac until about 3 1/2 years ago and very soon I make a living using it. I'm a video editor within Tampa, FL. I personally suppose it's the best decision you could brand for yourself. I'm also a former employee of an Apple Store. The perk are that the operating system is based past its sell-by date UNIX which is much more stable than Windows DOS architecture. meaning it is difficult to write a virus for it, it's possible but unlikely. In the 3 years I've owned a Mac, I've never have a virus or even had to install virus software. it's purely not needed, and it's because of this the mac seem to perform faster. it's not that the mac's processors are faster than vote a dell or a sony, its that with a mac you dont enjoy to constantly be running virus software and other unwanted programs to protect your computer. It is true you CAN run windows on your Mac. All topical macs use Intel chips which are the same processors contained by most new PC's. There are 2 ways you can run window. There's a piece of software available from Apple called "Boot Camp" this allows you to install Windows XP on your Mac, and when boot up your tool once it's installed you have the opportunity of either using the Mac OS or Windows. You can install and run any Windows application or activity that meets your computers specs. Now you can also run window using a program called "Parallels" which can be purchased online or at any Mac store. And again this allows you to install Windows XP, in a minute the difference is with parallel you can run both the Mac OS and Windows simultaneously, rather than have to restart your computer in decree to switch Operating Systems which you have to do beside Boot Camp. And as far as killing perfcormance, when running Boot Camp no sacrifice within performance requirements to be made. When running Paralells there is some slowing down within some applications, beacuse the computer is running both OS's at the same time, the other downfall of Paralells is it cant run faultless high wrap up games like you can when using Boot Camp once again because when using Paralells the computer is powering both OS's. The mac is dependable, affordable (which plentiful people dont believe, dance to any PC supply store and price out a PC that is comperable to the Mac you're interested within, dont those cheap Dell commercials fool you). The mac comes with a suite stale applications call iLife which includes
IPhoto
iDVD
iTunes
iMovie
iWeb
Garageband
so near any mac out of the box, you can organzie edit and share your photos, bowdlerize video from your digital video camera and then burn it to dvd next to a great looking dvd menu, creat your own music with garageband, brand name and post your own websites and blogs using iWeb and I'm sure your familiar next to iTunes. I can honestly say that the Mac have changed my life. Got to the Apple store, if there's one contained by your area, and purely tell them what your interested surrounded by doing with your computer, and tolerate them show you the things I've told you about. They'll suggest which computer would best fit your lifestyle. They dont work on commission so you dont enjoy to deal beside them being pushy. Also if you ensue to go ask almost Dot Mac and Procare these are 2 very paying special attention thing Apple offer for new customers. Thanks and chirpy computer buying.
You're going to get associates Mac bashing here no mistake. But I'm on one immediately, and I've used these for 5 years. I used to use PCs all the time, my brother still does. I have nothing but headache and viruses beside them. This mac is quick, extremely reliable, you can't win viruses or spy/ad ware on them, you can carry anything on a mac that you can get for PCs (and yeah they are starting making adjectives new releases games for mac too), they're better looking, they hold the most safe and STABLE operating system out near, they weork out of the box, things just WORK on it, lacking installing drivers or anything, it really IS plug and play. I can go on for days...but I won't. Trust me, it will be the best piece you ever do, I'd never go final. Don't listen to ignorant small minded ancestors.
MAC is perfect for home computing. PCs are better for spreadsheets, C++ programming, databases. but if you dont do any of those PC things bring a MAC. Hackers and spies usually ignore macs because they gain more for their money attacking PCs.
If you use BootCamp you can run windows minus any performance hit.
Macs can be markedly good for non-technical types that can afford the Mac charge. If this is you, then move about for it.
Some things to remember.
Macs can and do get virii. There are not as various as there are for Windows base computers though. The worst security issues are near OSX. If you get an elder Mac running OS9 you will be much safer.
They cost much more for the same hardware.
Upgrades will cost more.
Software is harder to find.
If you want to run Windows on indistinguishable machine, you enjoy a couple options. You can run it within software emulation. This will cause a pretty big performace hit. You can also use Bootcamp to run both on like peas in a pod machine since it is intel base.
Warning if you are not adventurous, you probably do not want to go this route, as some users hold lost the ability to boot contained by to the Mac OS.
If you go beside an older Mac and are ok running Windows 98 instead of XP, you can go and get an add-on card that allows 98 to run outstandingly nicely. They be made by Orange PC and can still be found second hand.
If you are even slightly techincal and adventerous, you could other try Linux. It is great on the desktop for most users. Hard core gaming is not it's strong point though.

No I am not wrong about the Virii. Too discouraging fanboys can't look past their own ego to see the truth.
Hello icedragon586,
Congratulations on your decision to switch to the Macintosh. Believe me, you won't regret your judgment one bit. There is plenty of web sites steadfast to Windows Switchers that explain the slight differences with the Macs. You will be using the Mac resembling a pro in no time at adjectives because the differences are so small.
Go to a local Macintosh dealer and try out a Mac for yourself, and you'll attain the bug. :-D Also, see if you can check out a local Macintosh users group in your nouns to get even more support.
Sorry Chris, you're wrong. There is NO virus for the Macintosh that is released out into the standard public. There have be some "Proof of Concept" viruses developed by anti-virus software companies, but they still require the Mac user to type surrounded by their administrative password to install the virus and these viruses enjoy not been release into the standard public. There will be a viruses some afternoon, but there hasn't be one in the finishing six years of Mac OS X. How many have Vista got so far?
Probably the worst article about have the Mac is the abuse you take from Windows Bigots. You've probably already heard from them, by simply mentioning that you're contemplating switching platforms. Even if you go with Linux, you'd be getting that. Simply smile, enjoy your Macintosh virus-free while these guys go rotten on their tirades.
Best of luck to you, icedragon586. Take care.
