Hello, sounds pretty slow indeed..Well, I enjoy helpful suggestions to propose at your attention:

I hold an easy solution for you to speed up your notebook. You probably have a slower notebook trying to load tons of programs at startup. An upgrade surrounded by ram may aid as well, at least possible 256 would help.
If your basically wanting to make your computer run for a moment faster, try clicking on the start button, click run, then type "msconfig". Now click on the startup tab.
Here you will find adjectives the programs that start when windows starts, some are unnecessary, approaching msn messenger. Make sure you can see the whole directory name below Command, your looking for things that start with c:\program, these are programs you hold installed, dont uncheck anything labeled c:\ windows.
Unchecking items that you dont recurrently use will make window run much faster, and this wont harm your system, because it doesnt delete anything......
