Seems approaching a pretty cool system. I will only interrogate the Vista part. Not sure what software you currently enjoy but be prepared for software issues with some products on Vista. Bluetooth support is greatly rough too.

If you want Vista go for the Home Premium.
Or better still progress with XP pro.

Yeah I agree, stay away from vista, it's a dog! You would be better off installing xp pro.
You might want upgrade to window vista premium because it has deeply more features than basic. I've have no problems with vista... however. And chose the radeon 512mb video card(lot better graphics).
I would do two things differently. I would get a lower title C2D processor and overclock it. That will save you a few bucks. The final thing would be to draw from a Western Digital Raptor drive. It's 10K rpm, you would boot time will drop by a few seconds and your desire time will be less as in good health. HDD's are so cheap these days you can procure a 500GB drive for about 100 dollars.
