Is in that a way to set Windows XP desktop up so that where on earth you place a desktop icon is where on earth it stays? I want to organize my desktop, but the icon have a mind of their own and jump where they want to not where on earth I put them.

Answer:
Well not "freeze" them brother but I got something that can aid.

Right-click on ur desktop and uncheck both 'Align To Grid' and 'Auto Arrange'.
Then you can place them wherever you want.
Try it!

May the luck of the Gods be next to u, brother!
you can't stop an icon self moved but you can reduce the likelihood of it being moved by right clicking on a blank nouns of the desktop move the mouse pointer to Arrange Icons by then scroll down to Align to grid and gone click, that'll keep em nice and well turned-out
Right-click on your desktop and mouse over Arrange Icons By> Make sure that Auto Arrange and Align to Grid are unchecked.
