Desktop Icons?

Could you please explain why my Icons relocate on my Desktop from whatever logo theyre designed to be ,to a square with an E within the middle

that's rlly weird . try going to properties of the statue and change the it. if it still doesn't work. try delete those shortcuts and add foreign ones
right click desktop / click properties / click desktop tab / click customise desktop button / select the icon you want to metamorphose and click the change statue button and select the icon you want. if that does not work try and select a foreign theme and modify that to your attachment.
Do you mean ALL the icon or have you freshly a problem with HTML icon.By this i mean HTML or htm icon.
Right click and look at properties, if they are .htm or HTML then i own a fix.
