compaq presario.

Answer:
download and burn memtest, enter the bios and boot from CD.
Memtest will examination to see whether or not anything is wrong near it.

Or, you could 'Right click on my computer > properties' and then see whether or not your unusual RAM has be installed
go to dos
type mem <enter>
it will inform you
I assume you mean RAM memory?? If so, boot up your computer. As soon as it turns on it counts the memory installed. If the total match, then it works.

I don't recommend checking the amount of RAM surrounded by 'My Computer'. Often times Windows will use a portion of your RAM for video memory and the total will not match.
On your desktop you should see an god that is My Computer. Right click on that and later left click on Properties. You will see how much memory window detects. If the amount is correct you are good to dance.
Right click on "My computer"
then Properties,
u can see the RAM of your notebook
download EVEREST Home Edition this will tell you if your PC be able to read the recently added Memory..
