Instructions

* STEP 7: Connect an available power cable to the hard drive.
* STEP 8: Insert the tough drive into an available drive bay and protected with screw.
* STEP 9: Replace the computer cover.

Instructions
* STEP 1: Start the computer.
* STEP 2: Enter the CMOS setup program (the system generally indicates which switch to press), immediately after memory check.
* STEP 3: Use arrow key to select Autodetect option (or comparable risk for your computer) if it is available, and press Enter. If this option is not available, see step 5 to manually enter the drive parameter.

I would recommend you get an external usb connected drive they are becoming reasonably cheap now.

No you can install an IDE drive
Your motherboard *may* support IDE drives - you will have to check the motherboard booklet.
If you have one disc or DVD drive on an IDE channel you could put in a second drive (making sure the master & slave jumpers are set correctly). The HDD verbs rate will be limited by the CD/DVD device though.
SATA have better data verbs rates, so using that over IDE is logical :)
