Can I mix run into speeds?

Answer:
As the PC2-8000 is 1000MHz (500MHz x2) it is one and only going to run at that speed on an overclocked system (at present).
It is possible, but unlikely that your existing 800MHz PC2-6400(400MHzx2) would run at this speed, But if you are running an AMD x64 CPU PC2-8000 WILL NEVER RUN AT ANY SPEED ABOVE 800MHz as the memory is timed directly from the CPU clock.
However BOTH types of Ram WILL quite brightly work together at 800MHz as long as the memory timings in your bios are set for PC2-6400.
Basically the PC2-8000 memory is aimed at individuals who wish to overclock and own Intel CPU's and offer no real helpfulness over PC2-6400 for the average user(other than tighter mem timings Cl 4 etc).
You can mix and match as long as it is adjectives compatible. If it isn't, your mobo will let you know. However, if you did mix and contest speeds, it will default to the slowest one.

Depending on the Processor, but most of them should tolerate you Mix the different rate of speed. It should work, I know it for a fact.

(ANS) The answer is DEFINITELY NO!! you cannot mix & meeting different RAM memory types, chip speeds & memory stick sizes. From all my olden experience of working with computers, servers, desktops, workstations, laptops,etc you own to keep hugely exactly to the rules the makers outline.
You must upgrade the RAM size surrounded by matching & impartial pairs, or sticks. If the makers enunciate the RAM type is DDR or SDRAM and it must be say x2 sticks of 512megs to put together 1GB then thats going to tender you the best quality of speed & dramatization.
**IF RAM chips are mixed & matched you are definitely asking for problems, any the machine's system bios wont recognise the amount or type of memory at best and at worst the machine freshly wont work, or will run dog slow.
**You cannot mix SDRAM & DDR or SDRAM & RAMBUS RAM and so on.
**Memory sticks or chips come as DIMM's or SIMM's (thats double in smudge memory modules i.e. chips on both sides of the card or stick) or Single in queue memory modules i.e. chips on only one side of the stick or card.
**DONT mix or try to meeting different speed chips either, generally in this bag the memory will default to the slowest worst speeds anyway.

commonly you cannot mix rams of different speeds. and you definetely can't mix ram of different speeds and different sizes too like what you enjoy specified here!!

lthough the faster speed memory will run slower rather than the slower mortal faster.
'pairs' are not needed contained by modern mobos as single stick/double sided modules have be around a while now, within older mobo's you have to have a matched twosome (2X16 OR 2X32 etc)
if your mobo is the type that will allow you to use two different TYPES of module then they CANNOT be mixed.
even so, parallel modules is by far the best choice, lthough they do not need to be pairs it will endow with by far the best results and be more stable.
no paul,you can mix any ddr2 modules together but be aware that if you use 1 pair at pc2-8000 and the other set of two at pc2-6400,the faster of the two pair will solely work at the lower speed(pc2-6400)
however ,the speed difference from pc2-8000 and pc2-6400 is minimal,and to most home users it would be un-noticable
note:most motherboards enjoy different memory requirments,so go to your motherboard manufacturer website and download the motherboard manual,you will achieve much more detailed information there
finaly paul,the first entry you will notice after you upgrade to 4gb of bump is the massive difference in running applications,the speed they enlarge,the speed they close,and basically your adjectives p.c experience will be much more smoother and enjoyable
