If it is unplugged...later there is no live video streaming through it. So no, not a soul can see you so long it's unplugged. Even if you turn it off, not a soul can see you. You must have a nouns that you accept, near a person, contained by order for them to even see the video coming through =)
No one can remote access your cam if it is unplugged. If someone be to you would see the light on it on.
at hand should be no harm if you unplug the cam cord.
hide the cam screen surrounded by a drawer or something so it wont face you and that you wont be so startled.

lol. if you unplug it it wont work. promise. i leave mine plugged contained by but sometimes if the computer is having a unpromising day the lighting stays on, and i know that no1can see me but i make it facade the wall to put my mind at rest. on the new laptop it have a built in one, and i cant turn it bad or anything!!!
