Why doesn't my DVD work?

I bought a Dell Demension 4700 Series Intel Pentium 4 Processor 520 contained by Dec 2004. I used to DVD drive to download a couple of simple games and it worked fine. I, then tried to connect a NYKO Air-Flo EX PC/Mac controller. It seem to work but not completely. I took it off the computer hoping that everything would be OK for gaming, and my DVD seem to work Ok for a few times, but felt erratic and different. Then it stopped working. I can put contained by the CD and I can hear it going around, but nil happens. My computer say it is working properly and I tried re-installing the CD, but nil works. It's like the compact disc drive is there and it's working, but it is not reading the compact disc. Is this a virus problem? Is this a bad (cheap) drive? Is it because I tried to put on a controller near a USB? How can I fix it? Please, Please somebody help. I love my Harry Potter team game, but I can't play it.
Thanks for listening.

move about in bios presing f2 and see if your bios see the dvd.
Try to receive sure the CD that you running within is well verbs with no cut into or what so ever. Maybe you wana clean your drive by inserting a compact disc CLEANER. Try to reinstall your drive and ur CD and restart your PC. Ensured that your drive is correctly connected to your PC.
