Recently purchased a Macbook near an 80 Gb HD, should i buy a 160Gig to replace the 80 or buy an external HD?
Answer:
Buy an external tough drive. As others said you'll have more space for your applications and files, plus you can stern up one hard drive to the other.
That is other a good practice to procure into the habit of doing within case one of the easier said than done drives gets tattered. Put your operating system on both - you then own the other one to start up your MacBook and you won't lose any files and maybe repair the not working one with a honourable repair program like DiskWarrior.
There are some perfect external hard drives that agree to you backup with merely the push of a button. Seagate offers one and probably other manufacturer too.
Depends alot on how you use the computer. If you're not running out of space, don't worry. Though I'd buy an external anyway to provide a track to have regular backup. I like externals contained by general because it's straightforward to share the data beside other computers, obviously not unbelievably practical if you're always on the move.
If you bought a used mac and don't own the OS disks, you probably won't want to replace the internal.
External HD. then you can enjoy the original 80 + the 160 external...get you more space for your stuff.
I'd get an external...it'll be slower, but cheaper.
But if you're doing video or audio, achieve the internal.
