How do I copy HD's near the copy individual boot competent?

I enjoy a 40 gig concrete drive set up the way I similar to it with XP. But presently I have an 80 see HD that I want to use and give the 40 see to my son. I can install the 80 gig very soon and see it in MY COMPUTER. I want to copy everything on my 40 see to the 80 gig and clear it my boot able drive. I could simply copy my 40 gig to the 80 see but I don’t think it would be boot competent. Will windows XP permit me do that? Do I need some other software to do it for me. Thanks

Ok If u want to take home ur 80GB HDD ur sole one, u have no pick but to make a screen on the 80gig hdd and install windows on it. You can copy ur background before or after installing window on 80gb, just fashion sure to install windows on a exotic partition of the 80gb hdd. after u can disconnect the 40gb one w/o ne problems

cant copy wind xp files over not gonna work . installed software cant copy over . inevitability to install win xp on ur new hdd
On your 40GB HDD install a divider program (eg, Paragon Partition Manager) and a good backup program (eg Acronis True Image) you can next make a 15GB screen and backup your complete OS to the partition, afterwards burn your OS to CD-R or DVD-R compressed archive will be 3-4GB, install your 80GB HDD load XP (must be matching ver as on the 40GB HDD) install your backup program (with Acronis you can make a boot disc that open Acronis Loader and install your original OS on your 80GB HDD),

you can use software called notron phantom. it is used to make duplicate copies of harddisk..

There is software you can find that will do it for you... It isnt exactly legal but its a biddable option..
