Test to see if my dvd burner is still working?

hi i enjoy a dvd burner that came beside my computer and it doesnt seem to be capable of burn dvds. If i try to burn a cd or something it works perfectly. Could it be my dvd disc? im trying to write on a TDK dvd-r. and the dvd writer say its dvd r/rw compatible. I don't know what the model for the dvd writer is though. I was wondering if theres any test i can run on it to see if its still working. Thank you!

It is a tricky one and the only method you can really test if it works is by burning a DVD.

The reality that it burn CDs does tell you that it works...
Are you sure that it can burn DVDs as all right...
Look for your drive in "My computer"
If it is a disc burner... it will be called "CD-RW"
If it is a DVD burner... it will be call "DVD-RAM"

There is also an issue with disc compatibilty... not adjectives discs works in a specific disc or DVD burners. But TDK are a top brand and usually do work.
