Black Screen?

i jus upgraded to the hot messenger and i now enjoy a black screen when i use my cam. . . .never have that problem be4. . . .i already tried to go into preferences and choose my cam as the source but still no luck . . . .any relieve would be much appreciated. . . .thanks!!
