Adapters for notebook run into?
I hold a number of spare pieces of RAM from a range of old computers. Some are 128 Meg, some 256, some 512 meg.
adjectives are from different (mostly Dell) PCs and they all hold slightly different pin configurations.
my question is: are in that any "adapters" or various other "hardware tricks" that would allow them to be installed on a newer PC?
I don't attention to detail how ugly it looks (nor do i fastidiousness if soldering is involved)...al i know is that I have a bunch of older pieces of memory that might be put to good use, but i'm not sure how to do it.
can anyone point me surrounded by the right direction?

The different pin configurations are not compatible. Mostly you can mix the 128, 256, and 512 and they should work, but they own to be the same pins and preferably like peas in a pod speed (PC100/PC133) etc.
RAM sticks have different memory settings, voltages, and pinouts - never hear of adapters for interchanging different pinned memory.
Best just to maintain the memory in armour you run into someone in have need of of your sticks!
Back in the outmoded DOS days we had such things. I don't know if they still exist but its a together big can of worms. I haven't seen any for the brand new type memory slots.
I have a huge munber of memory sticks as well that I hold on to to repair older machines, no in that are not any adapters that you can use to place them on a more modern gadget, they just cannot work near the speeds now available...

Different kind of RAM have different ways of working. It's not lately a matter of the physical pins but also the passageway it communicates with the motherboard.
During the second few years there enjoy been so frequent types of
ram and they become obsolete inwardly months in some cases.
Besides, the few extra amount of RAM you would gain from making such adapters is going to be worthless compared to the compromises contained by performance due to incompatible clock speeds etc.
Unless you could market it to people who are looking for that exact interface those outmoded RAM strips are probably completely useless.

Apart from the connections, various types of memory use different methods of operation. This is the principal reason the configurations correction, to prevent you putting the wrong ram on a board and blowing it up. Also respectively board has a hold back to it's maximum ram and the number of run into cards it supports.
You wouldn't want to use the old run into in a investigational pc because the speed would be too slow.
You might try putting them up on e-bay - because some population have ripened computers that they use for various uses - plus in that are other pieces of equipment that sometimes use computer RAM (cnc equipment, etc).
Sell them, and then use the money to buy some different, fast push that will plug right in.
You hold to know the TYPE of RAM that a Motherboard will accept. Not any RAM will work.

It would be pointless to conserve RAM of different specifications together. First, it probably wouldn't work, Second, the motherboard would have to be set to the slowest speed for a lowest adjectives denominator.
You see, it might not work, because FAST RAM can't be slowed down.
