XP cannot find USB 2.0?

My laptop one and only has 2 USB 2.0 ports. I bought myself a Hub and connected printer, webcam and my unmarked wireless mouse to it. However, I'm finding that the mouse is slow to response and no that I'm trying to connect it straight to the laptop, XP does not seem to find it. Normally, when you plug a device, shouldn't it read aloud new hardware found? But zilch happens. The wireless mouse be plug and play and there is no install disk. How can I install it again but connect it straight to the laptop?

Answer:
Try unplugging the Hub next unplug devices attached to Hub. Reboot Laptop. Now plug in Hub with the sole purpose. If successfully recognised plug each device contained by separately until you have connect adjectives devices.
Where possible plug mouse direct to laptop.
go to controlpanel / perf / sys / hardware / device inspector ... uninstall all the usb reference and then reboot and permit xp redetect the usb ... see if that sorts it
I had one and the same problem on an IBM laptop. turns out i had to install the motherboard drivers from IBM previously it would find it. Another thing is enjoy you checked that your USB is enabled in the bios?
This is a economically know problem with adjectives versions of window including XP, the mouse is detected at start of boot process, however the usb hub isn't powered up until later surrounded by the boot process. You either requirement to use a powered hub or plug the mouse into the laptop's usb port not the hub.

In addition, form sure the enable usb heritage device setting is turned on in bios.
Make sure your USB hub supports 2.0. Else it will still operate at the 1.0 speed.
