Portable storage device, cannot connect. can anyone facilitate ?

to make sure of this, follow these steps
1. Right click My Computer and click on be in command of.
2. click on device manager
3. click on the plus by Universal Serial Bus controllers.
4. Check if in attendance is a USB Mass Storage Device under here, if there follow step 5, if in that is no mass storage device, your device is broken.
5. double click on USB Mass Storage Device. under the nonspecific tab, make sure device is working properly underneath device status. problems just click the troubleshoot.

first piece either your computer is not recogonizing your storage device. but pane XP should have done this but dont verbs. connect your device in your USB and restart your computer. It should defintly come within My computer. If it still didnt then dance to control panal and try to detect it through Add/Remove hardware. I think this will support you
