Answer:
What CPU you have? You could give 2GB of RAM but if you got a slow CPU you wont see any advancement.
Which E do ya have? Always join more Ram, Make sure to do a disk Cleanup every so often

Owner of 5 E's
Add more memory.
all right if its running slower then it used to perchance it just requirements a tune up. disable some running tasks and startup programs, that is free and help alot.

dont know how much memory you have, but upgrading it to 512mb of strike is a good channel to make it hurried, that shouldnt cost you more then $50 if you have to buy all 512mb, but you already own something in at hand and if there is an embark on memory slot you can just want ad some to that.

good luck

You can attach more memory (RAM) to it (over 1GB is recommended)

Or, try what I was told, which is: install another complex drive in your gadget, then set the virtual memory settings to run stale of that drive instead of your main (C:) drive. Makes things like mad more smooth.
Add more ram and do a disk cleanup. Also remove stuff you do not use.
minus knowing what the specs on the machine, are it's difficult to say-so but....

adding memory will almost indubitably generate a perceived speed boost. run belarc advisor http://www.belarc.com/free_download.html... to get a detailed profile of your computer's hardware/software.

additionally, eat up the amount of programs that load at startup. press start/run and run 'msconfig' to see what loads at startup. uncheck items similar to quicktime and the like as they will nouns when a file that requires them is invoked. within is no need to nouns them at startup.

press start/run and run 'services.msc' to see what services are running currently and what runs automatically. you can change some to instruction book instead of automatic to reduce the amount of overhead you're running at any given time. consult this knit for information on what you can modify safely...

download and run C***Cleaner... http://www.filehippo.com/download_cclean...

to do cleanup and standard housekeeping like cleaning up cookies, temp files and lost links surrounded by the registry left over from incomplete uninstallation of out-of-date software...

additionally,go into control panel and click on sounds. you'll see that microsoft have assigned certain sounds to the startup and logon when the computer starts. varying these to no sound will speed up the initial boot as the computer doesn't hold to stop and play these unessential sound effects that window is starting/logging on and shutting down...

this will get you going within the right direction...
You don't give us plentifully to go on but you might try defragmenting the sturdy drive. That would cost nothing at adjectives

Make sure that you have no virus use "AVG FREE" virus scanner Spyware will also slow the machine remove it next to Spybot Search and Destroy see below.
Use also Adaware which uses a different algorithm to remove spy ware missed by Spybot and visa-versa!
I would upgrade the processor if your running a Celeron or Sempron. Upgrade the Memory to. But if your computer is three years or older I influence do not upgrade. Emachine are known for bleak motherboard after bout 3years. In our store I've seen 6 surrounded by the last year adjectives bad motherboards and some near bad power supplys. Good word is you can replace motherboards in your emachines near a aftermarket board. Unlike most Dells which have a special motherboard form factor.

So I'd do a full upgrade as soon as it bites the dust
motherboard -$70 lowend draw from a Pentium D
memory -$100 1gig
new cpu -$100 Pentium D or Go Althlon X2

Just my personal feelings by the way your Emachine retrieval disc will not work with current setup. you may need to buy a fresh copy of windows.

I hold a lot of customers that are convinced emachine own a self destruct timer built in. But who know yours might last ten years.
