How do I receive my external frozen drive working?

I hold a laptop running Windows XP and I bought a WesternDigital WD2000 200 GB hard drive and a Enermax EDH-350 USB External Station. I've attached adjectives the wires, have the HD set to the slave setting, but when I plug the complicated drive into my computer nothing happen. The box says that I shouldn't inevitability to install anything for Windows XP. When I try the Add Hardware in the control panel I don't see it on the chronicle, and I haven't any instilation CD...

Answer:
Ok later, this is tricky but from my knoledge of computer building, on internal hard drives within are three settings, MASTER, SLAVE and a third one that i cannot remmeber what the name is. When the other 2 dont work when i build it, i chooe this mysterious third one and it works!! If you hold set the internal drive to slave, that is a really bad move as it requirements to be set to master, as i am assuming that this is the one that contains windows xp. The external should be set to the third one. If you inevitability anymore help incorporate cal-dude@hotmail.co.uk on msn and i will tell you thru near

Your external HDD needs to be set to MASTER.
1. Check if the power supply is working. Is it plugged within? Is the external drive switched on. Do any of the LEDs light up?

2. You inevitability to check the jumper on the tough drive. It may need to be set as master.

3. Is the USB port working? Try other USB ports

WindowsXP automatically detects the external crate as a mass storage device.
An external hard drive is, essentialy, an ADDITIONAL firm drive connection point, contained by addition to the built surrounded by ones.

I would try setting the external drive to Master.

It IS possible that you have a unpromising USB cable or connection, or one of the unit is defective. If the problem persists, I would any try the drive internally, if possible; or own a shop check the units.

The "other" possibilty for setting that one of the answer giver's couldn't remember is "cable". This is a setting that let the computer determine which is the master/slave by WHERE it is connected on the cable, and is seldom used anymore.
