I hold get a power surge on usb port near a 8 see usb flash disk connected what do I do?

The port I pluged the flash drive into usually connects my ipod up to my PC a short time ago fine. What gives next to either of my front 2 usb ports on my PC anyone power surged by the usb flash drive? Also I am using a usb extention cable too for easier port access does the extra cable decrese my performace too?.

Answer:
All of the USB devices that you have connected to the USB hub are drawing too much power -- more power than what your USB hub can provide.

You own 2 choices: 1) remove some USB devices to free up power. 2) make sure that your USB hub have its own power cable conencted to a power outlet -- this will most likely fix your power problem.

If your USB hub does not tender the option to plug it into a power outlet, you may want to consider purchasing one that does.
I'm not sure I become conscious your question correctly.

If you own problems with power surges buy a surge protector.

A USB extension cable won't lessening performance unless it is over 5m long (which it won't be).
I would try to plug within other USB devices to the front ports to see if they power surge. There is no good justification, unless the 8GB USB drive has an external power supply, you should be seeing a power surge. All USB is on a +5V and GND system, and unless you reverse the two, you should never see a power surge.

As far as the extension cable go, USB1.1 was rate at 10 feet. This technique from the source to the destination, there should one and only be (at a max) 10 feet of cable. After this, it will do data loss/corruption. USB2.0 is rate at 16 feet. Even beside these ratings, the longer the cable, the slower the throughput because you have to transmit the voltage differentials over a longer nouns (basically low is 0 and high is 1).
