If your digital camera have a USB or firewire connector you can plug that in and it will work as a webcam. Some digital camera's close to Sony may require that you have a piece of software to product them work. Sony has the software for free on their website.
I use a digital camera close to this the time. It works well and take only a minute to connect or disconnect and I ponder the video quality is as apt as it gets.
