External complicated drive works on Mac not beside Windows?
Any Ideas?
Answer:
Chances are (if it came from inside your out-of-date Mac) it was/is formatted in HFS (a folder system). Windows can read FAT, FAT32, NTFS, but not HFS - at least not minus help. You can find some 3rd get-together utilities (I think one is MacDrive) that agree to you read Mac formatted hard drives surrounded by Windows.
Macs can read and write to FAT & FAT32, but only read NTFS so if you hold an external HD and you want to use it with both platforms it's best to format it as FAT32.
yeah the report formats are different in MAC and Windows.. SATA is an access technology what you entail to see is whether its FAT or FAT32 in MAC or not. The database manager surrounded by Windows doesn't recognise the external hard drive since its not have the same profile format as for the internal hard drive.
Do this
1) remove adjectives data from external drive to MAC
2) format the external drive beside FAT 32
3) put all information back from MAC to external drive
4) Now access from the Windows PC
right.. what is the drive formatted as? If it's formatted as HPFS (The Mac FS) Then it wont work lower than windows unless you use a program close to transmac http://www.asy.com/
If you format the Harddrive as FAT32 then you can read and write on both macintoshes and Windows. If you format it below NTFS then you can READ ONLY on macs and read and write below windows.
Bascially best choice: FAT32
As far as i know (don't know Mac systems) Windows and Mac are not compatible systems
If your computer is out of action properly while you are working on it, it could be a problem with device drivers, hardware or software.
