Bought a cd/rw dvd drive and plugged it contained by. it plays movies but can it copy them?

VERY NEW TO THIS COPYING FILMS GAME BUT CAN'T FIND ANY INFORMATION TO LEARN ABOUT IT ALL.

Answer:
in that are lots of programs out the to allow you to make backup copies of your DVDs, icopy is one of them, but within most cases they won't allow you to copy copr-righted disks. to do this you will need a program to rip the DVD to disk this program will remove the copy protection. once you own this done you can then burn the copy hindmost to a new disk. If you are using a single cloak DVD ( i.e. 4.7 Gb ) then you will also call for to compress some of the data as most DVDs are approx 9Gb. a devout program to try for the ripping would be DVD decrypter, available as freeware.

I should mention that it is illegal to put together copies of DVDs unless you own the original and that the copy is for your own personnel use and not for selling.

within that's covered my ***.

good luck
sounds approaching you have a compact disc re writer.... and a DVD drive.... the way you've wrote it.... and that would explain why it wont copy DVDs
Nero Recode will allow you to backup any films that are not copy protected.

Breaking the encryption on copy protected DVD's is private (even if you own the DVD). However, there are programs available to do this, such as DVDShrink.

It can copy them but it requires specific software. Personally I use CloneDVD and AnyDVD from http://www.elby.ch/products/clone_dvd/... but within are others such as Nero.. try going to www.zdnet.com and searching for copying software.
A CD/RW DVD combi drive is probably what you enjoy. This has the resources to read a DVD and it can Read and Write to a CD.
Therefore you can rip a DVD to your computer but you cannot burn it to a spanking new DVD.
You need to carry a DVD/RW drive (ie a drive capable to writing to a DVD)
all right, check its catalogue wheather it is have the copying option available ?
As per my fluency a CD-Rom / DVD player can only play not write to other softwares.
You hold your DVD player and your DVD burner.

The DVD player can only play.

The DVD burner can play and copy films.

However you cannot copy DVDs because they are encrypted. You necessitate special illegal software to decrypt them.
You enjoy a Combo drive and need a Super Drive to copy
a dvd, you probably hold a cd/r,rw and you need a dvd/r.rw!
Check it out beside the instructions, a dvd/r,rw will not copy a
dvd, it can only read it.
to copy unproved films you have to cart the flash mac off. the programs i used to use are Smartripper to break it down and DVD 2 ONE that puts it together again and adjectives it on nero
You need a DVD/RW
You can receive it at Walmart or any electronic stores.
CD/RW is just to copy music.
