How do I put a partions surrounded by my firm drive?

I would have given you my best answer if you hold given your Hard Disk Sizes, No of Partitions and the Free Space available on each Drive.
I assume your first harddisk have XP and some free space and your second hard disk have data which you dont want to loose. And both the harddisks enjoy only one fence each c: and d:.
First Copy adjectives the data into the first harddisk or on CD/DVD's
U can right click on my computer and select govern.
In manage menu you will hold Storage and Disk Management.
Select the 2nd hard Disk and delete the existing screen. Remember all background would be lost by doing so.
Now right click and create a full size partion and select extended partition.
Now right click and select trial logical drive and select 20 GB Capacity.
Now right click and select new logical drive and select the remaning space available on the thorny disk and make a dividing wall.
Now you will have 3 partition in your system. Keep c: as it is for XP install Vista within the newly created 20 GB wall D: and copy all your mature data to the recently created partition e:.
You can select compress e: if you want to store more information.

you can use the other unyielding drive to use new vista porthole...at the same time, you will hold 2 windows operating system "the matured one and vista"...just install the vista and put it on the other unyielding drive...it will show during the installation process..
Your hard drive hav dividing wall already... all you hold to do is to install Vista and direct directory during installation to the other drive where nearby is OS in it...
I am assuming you want to KEEP the facts on the storage drive and NOT install Vista on the same fence...the problem with the "same partition" solution (that copious users here have suggested) is it will potential wipe the storage data out within the process of installing Vista.
1. One option is software similar to Partition Magic...use it to shrink your storage partition after use the extra space to let Vista formulate a seperate partition (WinFS-type) for itself.
2. Another equally simple picking is to copy the storage data to your first drive (and/or several DVDs if you don't own enough space), install Vista on the second drive, later copy the data vertebrae to the Vista drive.

Drive 2 have
A) Storage partition next to all inspired files
B) WINFS partition next to Windows Vista

The best track without loosing the notes is get a partitioning software, and if u dont safekeeping for data loss next u can right click on my computer > goto manage > select disk storage admin and there u can screen ur drive.
easiest method is to use Partition Magic..others r too complicated
