Any brand recommendation for upgrading my computer memory from 256MB to 512MB?

Do you hold any info on a good place to purchase it?

Thank you.

Answer:
Brands I recommend - Micron, Kingston, Corsair, OCZ

There are abundant other good ones out within. If you go to http://www.crucial.com, at hand is an online memory configurator to help you select the right type for your PC. They brand the memory as "Crucial", but they're really using Micron.

Also you inevitability to know if your PC requires "dual-channel". Look up the specs in your guide. If it does, then you would be better sour selling the 256MB you have in a minute (on eBay or something) then buying two one and the same sticks to give you 512MB (though I would consider getting 1GB total if you enjoy Windows 2000 or XP). Keeping them identical ensure compatiblity in dual-channel mode, and also give you the best performance.

You inevitability at least two sticks of RAM to use dual-channel. The memory slots on your mobo are color-coded if it uses that. Each color is one trench. You need to install one DIMM on respectively channel.
When shopping for RAM, try to acquire one of the following brands, as they are really good and will ending much longer than some other cheap crap :

SimpleTech | Kingston | Corsair | TwinMOS
whatever your computer creation. recommends
