I merely get a trial wireless router for Christmas and I'm have nil but trouble beside it.?

Wireless routers work surrounded by and around the same frequency as wireless telephone. Make sure the router and the computers are not close to the phones.
And of course re-check the settings for both the router and the computer.
And as you would expect the location of the router is an important factor sometimes simply moving it a little distance will solve the problem.
I would look into taking it hindmost. To me it sounds faulty. If you can plug your modem directly into the laptop or notebook and you aren't dropping conection, take it support. Hope that helps.
