Which is a better graphics card? An ATi Radeon X1300 Pro or a nVidia GeForce 7900 GS. Both are 256 MB.?

Answer:
WOW, ok I'm glad you asked this until that time you made a mistake. The x1300 is a crap vid card. The 7900GS is really a great card. the amount and type of RAM is not the only item that matters but how hurriedly the graphics processors and that 256MB RAM run at, bandwidth size, pixel pipelines and available options. If you're looking at basically the boxes at a local store you most likely won't catch al that info. I would suggest looking on http://www.newegg.com/ I can almost guarantee that the X1300 is cheaper though. it really depends on what you wanna do with the unusual card, but since the question be "which is better" the 7900GS is WAY WAY WAY better. If you aren't worried about games, consequently get the X1300 otherwise carry the 7900GS or evena 7600GT. If I haven't convinced you yet after check out http://www.gpureview.com/ for comparisons. here's the two you listed: http://www.gpureview.com/show_cards.php?...

They are probably both righteous. I not want to miss lead you to reflect on one better, but, nVidia is the big player now within this area. When buying a motherborad I try to return with the ones with the nVidia North Bridge. I grain more confident in their power.
nvidia, it's got better support
Without knowing more something like your system it's difficult to reccomend one or the other, from the information I was competent to find they use different interfaces to the motherboad.

The ATI is available as AGP 8x, and PCIe 16x
The nVidia is only available for PCIe, but their website doesn't utter if it's 1x, 16x or something in between.

What's the motherboard you're planning to use it beside? Or are you picking the video first and getting a MB to match it? (A without a flaw fine approach to system building)

The only other piece I can say is if price is an aim the nVidea is nearly twice the price of the ATI board, but also from what I saw it outperforms the ATI board by a significant margin.
