PC cannot authorize latest modem?

Any computer experts out here?? I have a modem from my local phone company but the workstation will not recognize the strange hardware - tried troubleshooting - nothing works...

- check if you install your modern and your exchange cards card ( NIC ) correctly.
- check if you installed your network card's driver nonetheless.
- Connet your PC to the modern.
- Try again.

Are we referring to an external DSL modem? If so - contact their tech support as they know their own modems and what the setups should be the best.
