Alchemist is right... Currently the fastest processors on the open market are Intel's Core 2 duo - they are 30% faster than AMD's AM2 X2 series. This time last year, AMD have the fastest chips, but not nowadays... There is no comparison between the elder Pentium-D processors which couldn't compete with AMD, and the Core 2 Duo (also call Conroe) which have taken over as top dog for very soon.
