Why cant I connect 2 external firm drives to my XP electrical device at equal time.?
When I connect either drive, my computer recognises the drive and shows it as the assigned drive (f: for 250 gb and I: for 80 gb)
However when I connect both the drives through 2 USB ports, simply one is recognised- somtimes the 80 gb and other times the 250 gb. It recognises one drive either F: or I: and for the other it give error "USB device not recognized".
Can somebody give me the method of connecting both drives so i can verbs data from one external drive to the other lacking havng to copy it first to the computers hard drive.
Answer:
Do you hook them to USB ports on the computer, or via a hub?
With both HDDs connected, step to control panel, administrative tools, computer management, disc government.
Check whether and how they show up and look at the info (right click). It should give you hints as to what to do subsequent. Sometimes it's just a business of initializing it.
On my system (similar set up) any number of USB drives show up fine. I have even copied huge folders from two internal to two external HDDs at like peas in a pod time!
I believe you would need a device such as this: http://www.xpcgear.com/kamaconnect.html,... unless you can daisychain your external drives.
