Building a Computer...Can you sustain me!?!?

Everything is fine on it, but i purely want more speed/power/reliability. So i am wanting to build myself a new computer and purchase the parts bad of new egg. My grill is what all do I call for to buy, and what can i steal from my old comp?
I numeral the new Core Duo processor is a must. (2.0 GHZ)
I also am going to gain a new tower. (This will come near a power supply).
I will steal my old graphics/video card as economically as mouse, keyboard, speakers, and monitors.
Do I want to buy a CD-Rom, CD-RW, CD-DVD or can i steal these too?
Motherboard? If so how much memory usage do i need for serious gaming?
Sound card, can i steal this from the Dell?
Ram, I currently enjoy a gig of bump in the other comp, can i steal these too?

ok resourcefully first. the core duo is nice but it will not work on your current mobo. the core duo is a lga type (which has not pins)
so you will involve a new mobo. subsequent yes you can use your optical drives(dvd cd)
you will probably need to use different memeory as economically. most mobos use ddr2 which is much faster. i would go beside at least 2gigs of this.
subsequent get a seriousl graphics card next to at least 256 and any agp2 or a pci express. i recomend either stealth next to a radeon chipset or a realy nice nividia card.
also not to knock new egg but you might want to try intercontinental first they tend to have a touch better slection on cases and on prices they are alot lower than most places.
one last piece when you get your modern mobo,tower and stuff make sure you draw from at least 2 suitcase fans. one push fund and one pull within front to keep this monster cool. eithr that or do what i did and put yourself togethr a system beside these parts.

formulate sure your cd rom, cd rw or cd dvd drive is at least 8x speed.
1 see of RAM is fine, for serious gaming or other stuff you might want 2.

Yes you can use your older CD rom.
No you wont know how to use your old Ram. More than credible you are running DDR and need DDR2 for the investigational rig.
2 GB is good for gaming. If you can afford 4 consequently I would go next to that.
You will need a spanking new Mobo for sure to run the core duo.
You can use the sound card if it is PCI and not integrated.
If you're gonna build a gaming rig I would suggest building it adjectives new. Chances are doesn`t matter what processor you decide to buy prob wont fit the motherboard you hold. The ram also may be an issue for like peas in a pod reason ... the motherboard you buy to fit your processor may not work next to the ram you hold now ... you catch the point. With all that said the other things close to dvd/cd drives, flash card readers, floppy drives are adjectives more compatible with most computers.
One see of ram will be more than satisfactory for most games btw.

power supply- must be 500 watts minimum;
you can steal the CD/DVD, if you know how;
motherboard must be able to support 800 mhz memory (minimum);
memory must be at tiniest 2 gigabytes 800 mhz, make sure the timings and the cas latency are low;
if you hold a sound card, steal it, except, the motherboard will use CPU power for it.
most important piece is compatibility, make sure the motherboard you buy is compatible near the core 2 duo, dont use core duo, use core 2 dou. make sure that the motherboard is compatible beside the speed of the memory ie (800 mhz). make sure the tricky drive is 10,000 rpm and is NOT SCSI, when conecting the electrical output to the harddrive use only one type of cable not both of them.
wear a grounding strip so you dont shock the hardware, even a bit shock can render the hardware useless. cooling is important , so attach fans where on earth they are needed
do not use 4 gigabytes of ram because it will slow down your computer and window xp or vista doesnt supoort it.
1.Tower-I'm going to build my new computer near a Logisys CS888UVBL, acrylic blue tint clear case-www.directron.com, for $53.99, and use one of the clear case 550W PSU's,(plus a cupla' cold cathode-blue lights of course)
2.Newegg.com have really reasonable mobo/cpu combinations, Geeks.com, and Zipzoomfly also.
3. You can re-use adjectives your peripherals(i.e., cd-roms/RWs, keyboard, mouse, speakers,etc.) The harddrive is programmed as SATA-120GB-7200RPM,( if my 'googling' info is correct), nothing wrong near this, but for myself I would add a Raptor 10,000 rpm to facilitate out with the gamin'.
4. I know you approaching your graphics card, you just bought it, but if it's a PCI card publication you may not be as satisfied as you would near a PCI-ExpressX16,(most mobo's support this feature now). For gaming it's the track to go! The mobo,(if my info is correct), come with a ATI 9800 Pro AGP card, so I'll hold to assume you went put money on with an AGP copy.
5.Your memory has to be compatible next to your mobo, DDR should be matched in pairs of the SAME size to truly procure the dual channel from them,(DoubleDataRate) So if you attain a stick of 1, or 2GB's, get two! See if your unmarked mobo will support DDR2,( not much difference right now, but it's going to event soon,[technology of processors ability to use this push to it's full potential) Try to go at least possible 2GB's of mem., games coming out will require it soon, might as well be prepared!
