Hi there could be adjectives sorts of problems woth it i would just stir and get another one. Go to tescos for in the order of 3 quid you can get one near a scroll mouse for cheap.
its probably because ure mouse doesnt work well.... buy a better one.
Could be a build up of dust and dirt, try taking it apart and cleaning it. If this doesn't facilitate it's time to buy a new one, luckily they don't cost much.
create sure that you have no vireses if does not work capture a new one.
I believe your mouse is dirty inside. But sometimes when im not using the mousemat (i have an optical mouse) the curser jump to somewhere else on the screen! It's cause by the optic reflecting on the shiney surface of my table so if its doing stuff like that you perchance need another mousemat or another mouse. Scan your laptop for viruses too only just incase it could be another problem.
This happens on my Dads computer it is not a haker or a problem near your mouse. Ask geeksquad
