Storage onto a memory card?

I enjoy a desktop that's really old. We're conversation about 7 years outmoded. I only use it to play music. I want to store the music on a memory card that road I can play it on my laptop (which has a card reader built in). I can catch a reader and card(s) and it won't cost me that much. And I cannot burn the music onto CDs because there's no burner on this comp (I said it was old). I do enjoy USB connectors on this comp. Is this the best way to store background or is there a better road?
