How do I know if my desk top have a port or anything for a wireless card?

We switched some things around surrounded by our apartment and the ethernet cord is not long enough. I'm sick of dealing next to cords, so how do I know what type of card to buy and what will fit?

Answer:
A standard wireless PCI card will do. I suggest Linksys. If you take a glance inside your computer you should see a few long white ports that have a small puncture at about 3/4 towards the lapse. Those are the PCI ports. These are the ports you want to use.

Make sure also your router/modem supports wireless...

EDIT: Or use a USB adapter =P. I'm old fashioned
If you hold a spare USB, buy a Usb wireless adaptor.
Else open your computer and fit a wireless PCI card.
if your workstation is less consequently 5 years old ,freshly run down to walmart and get a wireless nic card, and a wireless switch. revise some basics of network and you should be surfing in no time.
you can buy a linsky wireless router and a "Linsky Wireless pci card",(you do entail both)and once you install the drivers\software for it --it will automatically configure for an internet connection....oh!and forget around (PORTS)
