Video card or monitor...one of them is messed up?

I have installed an ATI x700PRO in my computer and while the graphics and speed superior quite a bit at hand were blocks of broken lines running down the peak that were reasonably disruptive. At first I figured it be the card since it was a reman and adjectives but then I get to thinking it was the monitor seeing as it be more than seven years old. Either course, the card up and died after a couple days and I ordered a replacement...can I expect the same problems from the unmarked (or newish) card? I asked my A+ instructor but he thought it was freshly a matter of over heat...which according to the BIOS is unlikely. Either way, I would close to some input as to what might be the problem.

Answer:
If the BIOS detects excess heat it will shut down to prevent damage-I devise your safe from that belief. At any rate the new video card would or should solve any problems you own with resolution. If it does, collect yourself time and just try another monitor on your computer or rob your monitor to a buddies house and see if you get like results. This will at least determine if the monitor is at knock.

Hope this helps :)
If what you're describing is eyeshade tearing, it's an LCD monitor issue. Are you using an LCD? My spanking contemporary one does the same entity while I play World of Warcraft.
Overheating does sound possible. How all right ventilated is your computer. Do you obscure it in one of those cubbyhole things. They do inevitability to breath. How about those cords inside the armour. They scattered adjectives over the place obstructing the flow of nouns? Are all the fan working? Are the heatsinks free of dust? Dust can clog the airways. How about the Power Supply is it dusty? Is it supplying adequate power? Is this video card an upgrade from the default that come with the system? How oodles Hard drives in the computer. How much memory? What brand speed and type CPU? How frequent other drives, CD/DVD? If you aren't supplying enough power after you will kill components.
