Some Caveats....Following these directions will erase the hard drive, and adjectives your data and programs. Be sure you REALLY want to do this!!!! Make sure that your facts is backed up on other medium, and that you have the install disks for any software you plan to reload.
Insert WinXP cd surrounded by the drive, and reboot the PC. Hopefully it will ask you if you want to boot from the cd. ("hit any key to boot from cd"). Hit the "any" switch (bad joke there) and the laptop will boot from the cd. Follow the prompts to load window (not repair). It will then ask you where on earth you want to load window, and offer to do so on the current wall. You should follow the prompts here to delete the current partition, and later format the resulting blank partition as NTFS. Choose "quick" if available.
