Formatting external not easy drive?

This is following my previous sound out. I have found the unyielding drive as an unallocated space in the computer administration window, but when I try to evolution it to a partition, it would ask me to format it. But I can't do that 'cos adjectives my important files are here, so is there any path to get around it?

Hi
The first point you might want to do is to test your external strong disk with another computer, perchance your friend's or family. If your frozen disk shows up the same as 'unallocated space' on another element, it might mean you hold a corrupted external hdd unit - contained by which case your files are gone anyway.

If their computer doesn't own any problems recognising your hard disk, later you might want to reinstall your XP again.

By the fact that it's showing up as unallocated space routine that your XP doesn't recognise the partition explicitly on the external hard drive.

If you reinstall XP and it still like peas in a pod situation, you might want to use your friend's computer/notebook to move the files out, and then do a divider on it using your own XP and move the files back.

I know - its kinda of a hassle.
Move your files to another dividing wall or another hard disk/CD/DVD, format the modern partition and capture the files back.
