How to make clear to if a rugged drive is connected via usb 2.0?

I added another fresh USB hard drive to what is supposed to be a USB 2.0 port but it "feels" impressively slow.

I get no error messages when I plugged it within and I know all the USB ports on my appliance are 2.0. I checked the device manager but it doesn't indicate at which speed a USB drive is connected. How can I relay if it is communicated at 1.1 or 2.0 speeds with the PC?

Thanks

Answer:
Hi. You could distribute a file of agreed size to the drive. USB 1.1 can only distribute at about 12 MB/s. Anything faster have to be USB 2.0.
Can think of a couple things that may engender your drive to seem slow.

1: Is the external drive 5400 or 7200 rpm?
2: Is the external drive USB 2.0 compliant?
Is the firm drive using USB 2.0 as well? USB 2.0 usually have a max throughput rate of about 30 mbps, which is slow for a not easy drive. Hard drives transfer notes at about 80 mpbs. If it's possible, find a firewire output for the drive. Firewire has a verbs speed of 400 mbps.
