Press ctrl-alt-del and unfurl task superintendent. In task governor click Performance tab and look at the CPU Usage History area, not lately "CPU Usage." It should show a line graph of cpu usage. If in that are two windows showing usage, you hold a dual core.
Start>program files>accessories>system tools>system info.
