system restore??? forget that trivia. First step get a cd/dvd cleaning apparatus and clean the sucker. One you that and it cannot read your cd's or dvd or games and you cannot burn afterwards you need to achieve a new one sorry but the lenses do run out in them. Clean first if that doesnt do it find a new one (if you own had it for a lenghtly time spell (2+ years) you probably need a foreign one anyway.
DVD playse can't write CD u must buy a disc WRITER or is beter than CD writer to buy COMBO drive
combo can write cd , read cd and DVD
If your drive could read dvd and burn cds closer and now does not work, I reckon I may a a frustrating solution. This happened to me earlier.
