Desktop to Hi-Fi?

Is in attendance any way I can connect my hp compag desktop to my tape player system for the purpose of downloading music tracks from vinyl records onto my laptop and do I require special software? My hi-fi have an auxilery socket on the back for the purpose of connecting to other equipment. I hold ask this question at laptop outlets such as PC World but have be met with blank expressions as if to say-so why would anyone want to do this. The answer is I have thousands of tracks on vinyl.

You can conect your PC to your HiFi for listen to the Mp3's that you may have downloaded to you computer. You requirement a leed that conects to the AUX jack and fit it into your PC earphone jack. Thats what I do near mine. The AUX jack is for input not out put.
