Why doesn't my laptop's card reader read my SD card?

It does read my Memory Stick, so I don't chew over it's busted. When I insert the SD card, the LED from the reader lights up, but nothing pops up on the computer, and at hand is not a removable drive in My Computer. So what's the buy and sell? It's not locked either, I've tried to insert it locked and unlocked.

Answers:
Bummer, my laptop's SD slot stopped working too, try using an external reader and if that works later the internal reader must be busted. If the external reader doesn't work either next you may have to reinstall the SD reader's drivers. If reinstalling the drivers doesn't work you will probably enjoy to reinstall windows. If you don't use window or reinstalling windows doesn't work after there must be a problem near the BIOS or the motherboard and you will need to enjoy a professional take a look at it.
