I want to gain a USB input signal (GPS) to COM 1 for an matured software program to work lower than Win XP?

The program is CMAP (old ver) and GPS is exotic USB connection. I entail to get XP to dispatch this input signal to COM 1 and not COM 3 or 4

Answer:
try right clicking on My Computer select properities.
Then hardware tab & device manager budge down to the COM ports and click the + next to them.
Right click the COM port and goto properities afterwards port settings tab and click advanced and you can move the port numbers around there.
