Optical mouse problem?

I lately bought a Targus USB optical mouse with a retractable cable. I enjoy an optical mouse pad beside different colors and ridges on it.

Before, I had a wireless optical mouse, and when I used it, occasionally when I moved the mouse, it wouldn't respond until I moved it really nippy to "wake it up." I other thought this was because it be wireless and it had trouble sending the message to its signal.

But I am seeing this same behavior next to my new mouse. Even stranger, it seem to work better with a regular old-style cloth mousepad. It doesn't variety sense to me that I'm having a problem next to an optical mouse on an optical pad. Does anyone know what is going on?

Answer:
If the problem you enjoy is that the pointer is jumping around, the mouse wad is probably the problem. An optical mouse requires a smooth basically one colored mouse wipe.
